AES is Arbejdsmarkedets Erhvervssygdomssikring (Labour Market Occupational Diseases Fund).
AES pays benefits if an employee contracts a recognised occupational illness. The scheme is financed by the approximately 200,000 employers in Denmark.
The difference between an accident and illnessOccupational illnesses are different from accidents at work. Accidents happen suddenly, while occupational diseases develop over a long period of time.
