How much do I obtain as compensation?

A company is entitled to compensation if the employee receives full or partial salary.

It is a condition:

• that the salary paid during the maternity period is higher than the unemployment benefit rate. The unemployment benefit rate is DKK 106,49 an hour as of 2 January 2012
• that the company is entitled to maternity benefits during that period.

The compensation equals the difference between the maternity benefits and salary up to DKK 142 an hour.

From now on you will receive holiday pay included in the repayment

From 1 July 2009 the repayment was increased by 12.5% - corresponding to the rate of holiday pay.

This means that the total repayment is now 159.75 DKK per hour as the highest amount.

The hourly rate that we use to calculate compensations is the ordinary A-indkomst (income taxed at source) with deduction of labour market contribution, holiday remuneration, and pension contribution.

Max. 37 hours a week

We will cover compensation for a maximum of 37 hours a week.
If the salaried worker is employed in more than one place, we total up the number of hours and reduce it to 37 hours a week.

Automatic payment

You do not have to seek compensation from Barsel.dk.
Payment is made automatically to the employer based on the application for maternity benefits from the municipality.
The compensation is deposited into the employer's Nemkonto, which is performed quarterly in arrears.
