Who is covered?
Barsel.dk covers all the companies on the private labour market, unless the company has already entered into an agreement with another approved maternity scheme for all employees.
Trainees/Apprentices
You do not have to pay contributions for apprentices/trainees below the age of 25.
It is, however, a condition that such apprentices/trainees are registered for a contribution exemption at the Arbejdsgivernes Elevrefusion (AER).
Barsel.dk still pays salary compensations for apprentices/trainees below the age of 25 even if no contribution has been paid for them.
Directors
The company director is covered by the maternity scheme if the company pays Danish Labour Market Supplementary Pension (ATP) contributions for the director.
