How much do I obtain as compensation?

A company will receive compensation up to a maximum of DKK 155,43 in total per hour per employee.

This amount includes:

  • The company's pension contribution to a maximum of 8%
  • 12.5% holiday remuneration
  • 3.5% compensation for Sunday and public holiday savings
  • 1% voluntary/savings contribution
  • DKK 5,50 per hour for the compensation of extra pension contributions during the mother's maternity leave (weeks 1-14).

Unemployment benefits from the municipality are offset by DKK 106,49 an hour as of 1 January 2012.
DA-Barsel pays out the difference between the unemployment benefit rate and the calculated compensation per hour.

Payment

DA-Barsel pays out the compensation quarterly in arrears.

The payment will always be transferred into a Danish bank account.

When may you request compensation?

You have up to one year to request compensation after your employee has given birth.

When you request compensation, you decide
• when during the maternity leave you would like to request the compensation
• for how long you would like to request the compensation.

Your company cannot receive compensation for a period entering into a quarter for which you have not paid contributions or made reports.

You may, however, seek compensation for quarters that are not due yet as long as you have paid out maternity pay at the time.
