Who receives holiday pay?
All employees - except wage earners who are covered by a holiday entitlement scheme.
It makes no difference whether your employees work full-time or part-time, or whether this is their main work, a second job, or carried out as casual work.
Holiday pay for employees who are paid by the hour or weekly
In general, you should deduct 12.5 per cent from the employee's gross pay for holiday pay.
Holiday pay for salaried employees who have left the company and other employees paid on a monthly basis
In general, you should deduct 12.5 per cent from the employee's gross pay for holiday pay.
You should not calculate holiday pay for periods in which the salaried employee has already had their holiday with full salary and also not for the salaried employee's annual holiday bonus.
How do I calculate the number of days of holiday?
An employee usually accrues 2.08 days of holiday a month.
In principle, an employee accrues days of holiday during the entire period of employment. This also applies if the employee works at weekends, on public holidays, if the employee has a sick day, takes the day off, or is on holiday.
