About LG

LG is the Lønmodtagernes Garantifond (the Employees' Guarantee Fund), and was established by statute in 1972 as part of the Danish social insurance system. LG is supervised by the social partners and is regulated by a special legal statute.

The Specifics

LG makes sure that wage earners receive their pay, holiday pay, pension and pay supplements if their employer

  • is declared bankrupt
  • ceases trading
  • is in suspension of payments

and is unable to pay employees what they are due.

LG is not only there to help employees, it also helps to preserve businesses at risk.

LG is a jointly and severally liable insurance fund. This means that the fund's money comes from the contributions which all private-sector employers are required to pay.
