Tax Reduction for Senior Citizens is:
- a scheme for people born between 1946 until (and including) 1952
- a scheme designed to encourage senior citizens to remain longer in the labour market against receiving a tax reduction
- is managed by the Danish Tax and Customs Administration (SKAT) and ATP. ATP provides the Danish Tax and Customs Administration with information about your employment rate
- the Danish Tax and Customs Administration automatically pays the tax reduction into your NemKonto (Easy Account)
- the scheme has been adopted by statute by the Danish Parliament. Click here to download the act
- is "accrued" by DKK 20,000 per year
The Scheme is temporary and subject to reassessment in 2010 depending on the pressure on the labour market.

- How much tax reduction do I get?
- As a starting point, the tax reduction is DKK 100,000 (2008 level). The reduction is accrued by 60-64-year-olds by DKK 20,000 a year. However, if you were born in 1946 and 1947, the maximum amount payable to you is DKK 60,000 and DKK 80,000.
- How much do I have to work?
- In order to qualify for a tax reduction, you have to work full-time from the year you turn 60 until (and including) the year you turn 64.
- For how long will I be included in the scheme?
- You accrue the tax reduction from the year you turn 60 until (and including) the year you turn 64.
- I have worked abroad?
