At ATP, we make every effort to take care of the Danish people’s money and to grow their savings responsibly. We integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into our investment process and strive to generate the highest return.

Denmark’s largest green investor

At ATP, our ambition is clear: We want to make a difference as Denmark’s largest green investor. We have climate ambitions because we want to generate good returns for ATP’s members while also contributing to the global green transition. We simply cannot afford not to.

Therefore, our ambition is to invest DKK 200bn in green investments by 2030 - and DKK 100bn by 2025. This makes ATP Denmark’s largest green investor.

A carbon-neutral portfolio by 2050

At ATP, we want to be a driving force for real sustainable change. Our ambition is to reduce carbon emissions from our investment portfolios by 70 per cent by 2030 and to have a carbon-neutral investment portfolio by 2050. Therefore, we require that all companies we invest in are able to report on their value chain emissions by 2025. 

Each year, we publish a series of reports that provide insight into how we follow our principles in practice in our ESG-work. The reports include among others stewardship, ESG due diligence, and the green transition. 

Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation

At ATP, in line with the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, we report on our sustainability risks and negative impacts. View ATP’s report on Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (in danish).

ATP’s policy for responsibility in investments is based on international conventions and agreements for responsible business conduct. The policy states that ATP makes ongoing efforts to implement responsibility considerations in line with considerations for other business conditions and risks. We screen all potential investments and only invest in companies that act in line with our requirements and policies. This is called ESG due diligence. 

 

Climate ambitions

Our ambition is to invest DKK 100bn in green investments by 2025 and DKK 200bn by 2030. In 2021, we allocated DKK 61.4bn in green investments such as sustainable electric car batteries and green bonds.

A green portfolio

In 2021, we reallocated our portfolio of corporate bonds to consist of 100% green bonds.

CO2-reporting

We want transparent reporting in our investment portfolio. We require that all companies in our portfolio report comprehensively on their CO2 emissions by 2025.

Stewardship

As an investor, we influence companies in a more sustainable direction. In 2021, we voted at 633 annual general meetings.

Our Supervisory Board has created three policies that determine the framework for how we invest responsibly at ATP. The aim of the policies is to ensure that ATP’s work on responsibility in investments is business-driven and based on stringent criteria.

Active ownership

At ATP, we actively investigate how the companies, we invest in, act and develop. We use this knowledge and insight to influence the companies - both via direct dialogues with the companies and by voting at their annual general meetings.
